Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
Do I need my own horse to take lessons?
No, we have school horses or ponies available for beginners and intermediate riders.
Do I need to have my own horse to ride with riding?
No, you don’t need to own a horse to participate. Horses are usually provided, though riders with their own horses are welcome to bring them along if they prefer.
What style of riding will I be doing?
Lessons and rides are generally tailored to suit different levels of experience. Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, the focus is on building confidence, safety, and enjoyment in the saddle. The exact style can be adjusted depending on the rider’s goals.
What should I wear for my first lesson?
Wear long, comfortable pants (like leggings, jodhpurs or denim jeans) and sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots with a low heel. Avoid loose or baggy clothing.
Do I need to buy a riding helmet?
Helmets are mandatory for all mounted riders. We provide a limited supply of loan helmets for your first few sessions, but you will be expected to purchase your own as you progress.
Do I have to be a jumper to go on the rides?
Not at all. Rides are designed for all levels, and jumping is optional. The emphasis is on enjoying the ride, not on competing or performing specific skills.
Is there an age or weight limit?
Minimum ages typically range from 6 years old. Ideally the maximum weight of rider and tack should not exceed 15 to 20% of the weight of the horse to protect horse’s health. Riders up to 70kg are welcome on school horses.
Will my lesson go ahead if it's raining?
