RIDING DISCIPLINES FOR EVERYONE

At our equestrian centre, we believe there is a riding style for everyone to enjoy. Whether you are interested in dressage, show jumping, trail riding, beginner lessons, or simply spending time with horses, we offer a variety of riding experiences suited to all ages and skill levels. Our experienced team is here to guide and support each rider, helping you discover the discipline that matches your goals, confidence, and passion for horses.
We have a holistic approach to the development of horse and rider and we therefore encourage all riders to take part in a range of disciplines. We pride ourselves on our riders being real all-rounders. Our focus is on having fun and enjoying spending time with horses, and we coach both correct classical riding and good horsemanship.
We offer formal training, with qualified instructors, in Dressage, Showjumping, Equitation, Showing and Equestrian Vaulting.
We are currently the only venue in the Kimberley area hosting graded shows in the English Disciplines (Dressage, Showjumping, Equitation and Showing), and we are also the Northern Cape venue for the SANESA Core League Qualifiers, which are usually combined with our graded shows, and all levels of competitive riding are catered for, from entry level to professional.
We also offer many fun activities such as Le Trec, Cross Country, Pony Camps, Mounted Games (English and Western) and recreational outrides. These activities form part of our weekend instruction programme, which continues throughout the year. Participation in the weekend programme is free to riders leasing or stabling a horse at KEC, but also open to riders without their own horses at regular lesson charges. The weekend lessons are designed to be varied, interesting and enjoyable, so as to develop competent, confident riders.

Ahmed Barmania
Facilitator of the Pony Club Program
With an intense passion for horses and a wealth of hands-on experience in horse handling, training, riding, and care, Ahmed brings a calm, intuitive and practical approach to equestrian instruction.
Having developed a deep understanding of horse behaviour and communication over many years, Ahmed is known for building trust and confidence between horse and rider, creating a positive and enjoyable learning environment for riders of all ages.
Originally coming from a strong sporting background that includes martial arts, sports shooting and mountain biking — disciplines in which he has achieved a high level of proficiency and served as an instructor — he brings a unique combination of patience, focus, safety awareness and effective coaching methods into the equestrian world.
Now dedicated to sharing his passion for horses, Ahmed offers Tiny Tots riding lessons designed to build confidence, balance, coordination and a love for horses from an early age. He also leads scenic horseback out rides, helping riders enjoy memorable experiences while learning horsemanship in a safe and engaging setting.
As facilitator of the Pony Club programme, his goal is to help young riders and equestrians develop not only riding skills, but also knowledge, respect and genuine connection with horses through practical learning and enjoyable experiences.

KEC started in 1960 with a vision to create a positive, family-oriented environment where horses and riders could thrive. Over the years, we’ve grown into a registered show venue, hosting prestigious events like the DSA Challenge and Thunder Cup, while nurturing riders across disciplines such as Showjumping, Dressage, Vaulting, Equitation, and Showing.
